Virtuoso Legal Our History

Virtuoso Legal: The 10 Year Journey

Whilst working at large firms, Elizabeth Ward saw many businesses weren’t getting the advice they needed to protect their IP. Liz decided to set up her own boutique firm concentrating on: IP, IT and commercial law. Virtuoso Legal started trading in May 2007.

Operating a purely specialist practice allowed Virtuoso to focus in. This has helped the firm to provide clients with cost-effective and objective advice. The firm has been highly-valued for its focus on clients’ commercial outcomes – above all else. This is a core ideal that has remained at the heart of all of its work.

As a result; Virtuoso Legal has operated at the forefront of IP matters for 10 years. It has also championed the value of IP in business – in its words and actions.

This has led to Virtuoso becoming highly regarded in legal circles – receiving frequent accolades and recommendations for its elite expertise. Highlights include:

Virtuoso Legal is on the nominated panel for a leading IP insurance company as a key infringement advisor.

The firm is instructed by fellow professionals such as: patent agents, trade mark attorneys, accountants and other lawyers; to assist clients with their IP strategy in company acquisitions and disposals.

VL solicitors regularly contribute articles and lectures on the commercialisation and defence of intellectual property.

Virtuoso were involved in Europe’s first “Intellectual Property Auction”, on 1 June 2007, in London.

Additionally, Virtuoso have been (and continue to be) regularly asked to advise government organisations. These include:

  • Business Link
  • UK Trade and Investment (UKTI)
  • The Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform

Now approaching its 10th year – Virtuoso Legal continues to lead the pack in IP matters. Fundamental to this is Virtuoso’s solicitors unmatched: experience, expertise and insight into intellectual property.
