‘Kim was seconded to the Wills & Probate team at Blacks Solicitors LLP as part of her training contract. Throughout Kim’s secondment we were impressed with her diligence and attention to detail. Kim’s calm and professional manner was a welcome addition to the team in what is a challenging and emotive area of law. Kim’s experience at Virtuoso meant that she was not fazed by the change in legal subject and her ability to adapt to the different area of law is to be commended. We wish Kim every success for her future as an IP solicitor at Virtuoso and know that she is a valuable asset to them.’
Helen Gott – Solicitor at Blacks LLP
Kim is an Associate Solicitor based in our Leeds office having previously completed her training contract with Virtuoso Legal. She draws her experience from the 7 years that she has worked for the firm. During this time she has assisted Liz Ward and Kirsten Toft, both leaders in their field with all aspects of their IP work.
Kim has a wealth of experience having had the opportunity to work on a diverse range of contentious and non-contentious matters to date. Contentious files have included high value and critical High Court, IPEC (formerly PCC) and Intellectual Property Office disputes concerning infringement of patents, design rights, trademarks and copyright. Kim’s day-to-day conduct of contentious files can typically involve drafting letters to opposing solicitors, disclosing and managing documents, drafting costs schedules, witness statements, instructions to counsel and preparing trial bundles. She has demonstrated through her litigation experience that she is a very capable junior lawyer who can cope well under pressure.
She has excellent drafting skills and continues to develop these from the expert training given by her senior colleagues. The firm is renowned for providing one-to-one training with a great deal of early hands-on experience and responsibility. This is allowing Kim to excel in drafting IP Audits, commercial agreements, IP assignments, IP licences to name but a few.
As part of her final training to qualify as a Solicitor, Kim worked at Blacks Solicitors LLP on a training secondment in order to gain further external legal experience in the different fields of law as required.
Kim’s colleagues value her quiet unassuming manner, her commercial approach and the attention to detail which she shows in all of her work. Clients also admire Kim’s organisational skills and her ability to keep many things moving efficiently along. She is pro-active and focused on any case from instruction to conclusion.
